Centuries after the defeat of Imhotep, the sands of Egypt once again stir with ancient power. The Mummy: Rise of Anubis begins when a team of archaeologists led by Dr. Evelyn O’Connell and her son Alex uncover a hidden chamber beneath the ruins of Abydos. Deep within lies a colossal statue of Anubis, the Egyptian god of death, surrounded by inscriptions warning of a curse older than any they have ever encountered. Soon after, strange events plague Egypt and beyond. The dead begin to rise in scattered villages, and the Nile turns red with blood. Evelyn realizes that they have unleashed the spirit of Anubis himself, a god betrayed and imprisoned by his own kind. Unlike Imhotep, Anubis is not bound by human desires—his goal is to reclaim the Earth for the dead and erase the world of the living. The O’Connells must once again team up with the wise but roguish adventurer Rick, who has long left his days of treasure hunting behind. Together, they set out to stop a god.
Their journey leads them across scorching deserts and forgotten temples, where they seek the Scroll of Ma’at, a relic said to hold the power to balance life and death. Along the way, they encounter a secret cult known as the “Sons of the Jackal,” fanatics who believe the return of Anubis will purify the world. Led by a ruthless priestess named Neferet, the cult hunts the O’Connells relentlessly, convinced that mortal resistance is futile.
As the chaos spreads, ancient armies of jackal-headed warriors rise from the sands, attacking cities and consuming everything in their path. The world teeters on the brink of annihilation. In a desperate attempt to stop Anubis, Alex must perform a ritual that could cost him his soul, using the bloodline power he inherited from his encounters with the Book of the Dead years earlier. His inner struggle mirrors the conflict between human courage and divine wrath.
In the climactic battle at the Great Pyramid, Rick faces Anubis in a confrontation of man versus god. Through sacrifice and courage, the family manages to restore balance, sealing the god once more in the underworld. The desert falls silent, but not before Anubis’s voice echoes in the wind, warning that death can never be truly defeated.
The Mummy: Rise of Anubis ends with the O’Connells walking into the sunrise, scarred but triumphant, leaving behind a world forever changed. The sands shift once more, hinting that some ancient evils never rest—they only wait.
