At first, Kevin is shocked and scared to realize that he is completely by himself. However, he soon begins to enjoy the freedom of living alone. He eats junk food, watches movies meant for adults, and explores the house without any rules. Kevin learns how to shop for groceries, do laundry, and take care of himself, which helps him become more confident and independent.
While Kevin is enjoying his independence, two burglars named Harry and Marv are targeting his neighborhood. Known as the “Wet Bandits,” they pretend to be police officers to find empty houses to rob. When they notice Kevin’s house seems empty, they decide to break in, believing it will be an easy target.

Kevin quickly realizes that the burglars are planning to rob his home, and he decides to protect it by himself. Using his creativity and intelligence, he sets up a series of clever and painful traps around the house. These traps include slippery stairs, hot door handles, and unexpected surprises that cause the burglars constant trouble and injury.
As Harry and Marv repeatedly fail to break into the house, Kevin proves that age does not determine bravery. Despite being scared, he stands up to the burglars and shows great courage. Eventually, the police arrive and arrest the two criminals, thanks to Kevin’s efforts and quick thinking.
In the end, Kevin learns an important lesson about family and love. On Christmas morning, he wakes up to find his family has returned home safely. He realizes that although they may argue and misunderstand each other, family is the most important thing in his life. The film ends with a warm Christmas message about forgiveness, responsibility, and the joy of being together.
